Poddiversary Events Schedule

PIRATE PARTY
Just because it’s Pirate Day and it’s an excuse to get together and do something silly.
Friday the 19th, 8:30 pm server time
Meet up at Booty Bay on the roof where the Pirate Day NPCs are
Bring your Savory Deviate Delight!
If we have enough people, we’ll do some dungeon races or something equally silly.

BREWFEST PARTY AND PANDA RACE
This is the Big Pod Party – hopefully we get a nice turnout: more Pods = more funs! If you can’t make the 19th, please come to this one!
Friday the 26th, 8:30 pm server time
Meet up in front of Orgrimmar
Bring fireworks!
We’ll be rolling up brand new Pandas (make sure to have a character slot open) and racing to level 10. You can pick any class, so give that some thought ahead of time if you like. There will be prizes and gold awards for winners and participants.
Once everyone’s hit level 10 with their new Pod Pandas, we will take our fuzzy new critters off to a battleground for some Pod v Pod action.
Prizes to be announced.
In-game invites have gone out to all (most?) toons of Pod level or above so check the calendar and accept that invite!

Oh, and there is just one more thing..

STAY CLASSY, PODS – NOW WITH BONUS BOUNTY
Hey, just to mention that this is still a thing, and we’re still offering gold bounties on the remaining class/race combinations needed for this achievement. The guild gets an 8th Vault slot (very useful!) and you get 5000 gold.
AND to celebrate the 9th Poddiversary, I’m raising the bounty to 9000 gold (!) if we get them done by the end of September (yes, that only leaves two weeks or so for the bonus bounties – START!)
Here are the combinations that are still needed:
Troll: Warrior
Pandaren: Warrior, Hunter, Rogue

So there you go! All the updates!

NINE YEARS! WOOO!

posted by Scruffi on September 9, 2014, at 8:48 pm.

Grats, guys! /champagne
Crazy as it sounds, this guild is now nine years old.

Even crazier, I’ve been here since the beginning and boy has it been a ride. In fact, August marked my own personal 9th anniversary playing World of Warcraft.

And it’s pretty much your fault. I would have quit this game so many times over the years but I kept coming back for the guild, for the people. For the Pods.

As it happens, this September also marks my fourth year as GM – first as an interim position and then as an elected (an eventually re-elected) position.

So, thanks to all of you for letting me do this for so long, and thanks for being a guild and a group of real people I want to keep playing with. I don’t know if WoW has nine more years left in it, but here’s to seeing it through with you guys.

Cheers!

ps. Here’s a forum poll for preferred nights for having an event! Please go and let me know your preference. If you have more than one leave a comment in the thread. Thanks!

Friday the 13th Hearthstone Tourney!

Friday the 13th Hearthstone Tourney!
We’re having another Hearthstone tournament, folks! I had a lot of fun at the last one in spite of the fact that it really was a battle of the noobs ]:)

Very much looking forward to doing this on a more or less regular basis. In this case, you have a couple of weeks (nearly) to jump in to Hearthstone (it’s really easy to learn) and/or sharpen your skills. We’ll be playing with random decks, to keep it simple and fast.

From Cheeba’s forum post:

HELLO HELLO!! This is to be a tourney for all no matter your skill level or deck size.

The idea is that the participants will go to the create a deck page, then pick a hero, and rather then pick any cards you will click the “done” button and the game will ask you if it should fill out the deck for you and click the “yes” button. This way we will all have completely randomized decks and shall commence to do battle.

Escape Pods!

Escape Pods!

Guess what! The Pods have an Alliance sister guild called the Escape Pods. I understand if you didn’t know that or had forgotten – it hasn’t really seen much traffic recently, but it’s been around since Vanilla. It was originally started because a lot of players had started on Alliance before coming to the Pods, so they wanted a place to play with the same people on the Noob Side. Also, it served as a way to do Pod v Pod Battlegrounds in the early days (when you could take advantage of a game mechanic to join a BG as a group, so we could fill both sides of an AV with Pod People).

Such trickery is no longer needed of course. The game has plenty of ways we can meet up to shoot and stab each other now.

But the Escape Pods live on! Currently GMd by Walajut (as Annbeth), and still leveling (currently at 11).

The Armory page is here

http://us.battle.net/wow/en/guild/whisperwind/Escape_Pods/roster

The following member toons have invite powers:

Annbeth or Argharna +2 more (Walajut ) GM
Jenjanie (Jenjani)
Tribense (Tribes)
Yib or Wib (Awlhollows ) Representative
Sinwithin (Dravenhart)
Gilnar (Balmer) logs in about every 3-4 months on EP’s
Islah (Zabros) Representative

So! If you have an urge to scrub up and go play on the shiny side of Azeroth, go hang out with your Pod pals in the Escape Pods.

Current State of Pod Raiding in the New Year

posted by Scruffi on January 6, 2014, at 7:17 pm.

So I asked Lokansenna to send me some notes as to the current state of Pod Raiding, et al, figuring I would get a list of days of the week and such. She sent this:

Good Morning Scruffi:

Lollerskates raids on Tuesday nights from 8:30pm(CST/server) until 11:00pm. We are currently working on the last boss in TOT and will be moving on to Flex SoO. Once we get the first wing down in flex, we will start regular mode for that portion as we work on the second wing in flex and continue that rotation.

The Retro raid is currently running on Sunday night at 6:00 or 7:00pm server to around 9:30-10:00 server. We are in Dragon Soul right now working on heroic kills and Achievements to obtain the mount. The Dragon Soul run will continue to run throughout January and into February as it takes a full four weeks to get one of the achievements and we want to include everyone that would like to run.

One of the things about being a Pod raider is that it is geared toward those players that may only get on a few times a week or have busy out-of-game lives. We enjoy gathering on Tuesday evenings for an in-game social hour or two and have some fun downing bosses as we go. As a raid leader I do ask that everyone try to run the LFR version of the raids to understand some of the dance of each fight and give simple explanations of what may change as we move to the flex and regular versions.

If the Pods have enough interest I would be happy to add back in our Friday night raid, which is a continuation from where Lollerskates left off on Tuesdays.

Our raid team is currently in need of an alternate tank in case Cheebatank or Igoar is not available. An alternate heals/dps person to step in and heal on nights one of our healers is out. Two to three dps slots are usually open on raid nights.

If you are the type of person that enjoys playing WoW, but do not have the time to commit to a hardcore raid team, and would like to see the endgame content, come give The Pod People a try.

As we prepare for the new patch release it will be nice not to have to leave the 11th or 12th spot on the bench and bring them with us. It will also be nice to run when we only have ten.

My goal would be to get 12 to 14 regular raiders, as not everyone can make it every week. I would like to get the Friday night raid going again, also with 12 to 14 raiders. Between the two nights, we will hopefully have a group of 20 that will be able to continue on with the new expansion in the works.

I hope this helps provide information on what is happening in the pod raiding world and look forward to seeing you on tomorrow night to wipe TOT off our list.

Lokansenna

In summary:
WEEKLY RAID – Tuesday nights 8pm server (CST) (looking for more tanks)
WEEKLY FLEX – Wednesday night, 8pm server (team up with Scotch and Soda, Siege of Orgrimmar)
RETRO RAID – Sunday night s 6/7pm server (Dragon Soul for the mounts and chieves)

So there ya go! The current state of Pod Raiding, January 2014. Happy New Year!
